A Kickstarter product that has become a retail one. On 31 August 2026 the S1 Pro was sold out on AEKE's own European store and in stock on their US store. Still no independent long-form review from any established outlet.

Its Kickstarter closed on 7 August 2026 and a commercial Omni X1 Pro went on sale on 18 August. On 31 August 2026 their own product page listed it as pre-order, "expected to begin shipping in late September". Base published warranty is one year.

The number that actually moved

The third generation is an argument about angles.

Resistance stopped being the interesting number a while ago. Every machine in this category claims somewhere between 100 and 120 kg, and none of those figures is measured to a common standard. What actually decides whether a movement works at home is where the cable can leave the frame.

The third generation doubled the cable positions on the Gym Monster, and the Ultra takes them to thirty-three, including one directly overhead. For comparison, AEKE's European product page states that its "7×9×3 adjustable arm system delivers 185 angle combinations" - a different measurement on a different basis, which is exactly why the note below matters.

Where the cable can leave from
  • Gym Monster 3 and 3S: nineteen positions at 7.5 cm spacing. Twice the previous generation, so a movement starts from the height it should rather than the nearest hole that will do.
  • Gym Monster Ultra: thirty-three. Five at the bottom plus a free-slide mode, twenty-seven in the middle for centimetre-precise routing, and one at the top.
  • That top position is a true overhead exit. Lat pulldowns, high rows and pressdowns on the machine, with no rig and no gym membership.
  • One-hand operation on the Ultra. Swap an accessory and change cable height without putting the handles down, so a set does not become an interruption.
The vertical pull is the movement a home gym normally cannot give you. On the Ultra it is a cable position on the frame, not an accessory and not a compromise.

Being straight about the numbers: "185 angle combinations" and "33 cable positions" are not the same measurement, and neither company's figure has been independently verified. AEKE publishes a combination count and no degree or width range; we publish discrete cable positions and their spacing. Read both as manufacturer claims and, if angles are what decides this for you, go and pull the cables on both machines before you spend the money. We have showrooms for exactly that reason.

We quoted their unhappy customers above, so it is only fair to show ours. These are not our best reviews. They are the ones where something actually broke, because that is the moment a warranty either means something or does not. Every one is a public Trustpilot review, linked.

Early Nov I had an issue in that it would not turn on... The engineer was booked for the 21st Nov, parts arrived that day and all fixed within an hour, some parts didn’t need replacing but were replaced as a precaution... At this price point the service needs to be as good as the product and on this occasion it certainly was.

Where they still beat us, and what reviewers criticise about ours.

A comparison that only flatters the seller is worth nothing. The third generation closed several of the gaps that used to be on this list. Here is what is left, including the parts we would rather not print.

Where the AEKE S1 Pro is still better

  • A bigger screen. 27 inches, tilting from -6 to 90 degrees, against 23.8 inches on the Gym Monster 3, 3S and Ultra and 21.5 inches on the Gym Monster 2. Both figures come from the two manufacturers' own pages, and theirs is bigger.
  • A longer trial. AEKE advertises a 30-day home trial. Our change-of-mind window is the statutory 14 days and the unit has to be unused and unopened. On that specific point they are more generous than we are, and you should know it before you buy.
  • Camera on the machine. AEKE markets camera-based movement tracking built into the frame. The Gym Monster 3 and Ultra have AI posture recognition, and on the GM1, 2 and 2S the same job is done by Sidekick using the phone you already own. Built in is tidier. Neither company's accuracy has been independently tested.

Where the Innodigym Omni X1 is still better

  • Assisted pull-ups were their idea first. The Omni X1 has been marketed on motor-assisted pull-ups since its campaign. The Gym Monster Ultra now does the same thing, with assisted and weighted modes to 110 kg, but we were not first to it.
  • Folds thinner on paper. A claimed 0.12 m2 against 0.25 to 0.26 m2 for the Gym Monster 2 and 3 and 0.59 m2 for the Ultra. Nobody outside the company has folded one yet.
  • A higher claimed resistance figure. 265 lb / 120.2 kg claimed, against 100 kg on the Gym Monster 2, 3 and Nano and 120 kg on the 2S, 3S and Ultra. Theirs is a manufacturer claim measured to no common standard; ours are the figures German testers have measured on a shipping machine.

What the third generation fixed, and what it did not

  • Fixed: the screen. 23.8 inches at 2560 x 1440 on the Gym Monster 3, 3S and Ultra, against 21.5 inches before. Still smaller than the S1 Pro's 27 inches, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
  • Fixed: the angles. Nineteen cable positions on the 3 and 3S, twice the previous generation, and thirty-three on the Ultra including a true overhead exit.
  • Fixed: what is in the box. Every Gym Monster 3 configuration ships with the full accessory kit rather than a basic one.
  • Fixed: vertical pulling. The Ultra has a built-in multi-grip pull-up bar with motor-assisted and weighted modes, which answers the assisted pull-up the Omni X1 was praised for.
  • Not fixed: the third generation is brand new. It has no long-term owners and no independent reviews. If a proven track record is what you are buying, that argument currently points at the Gym Monster 2, which is still in the range.

What independent reviewers criticise about the Gym Monster 2

  • connect.de, whose overall verdict is still "very good", is blunt about the interface: "Der hakelige Touchscreen, das stellenweise überladene Menü und der zu leichtgängige Bluetooth-Ring trüben einen ansonsten sehr überzeugenden Gesamteindruck". The touchscreen can be fiddly, the menus overloaded, and the Bluetooth ring too easy to trigger. The third generation's larger screen, new chip and Ring 3.0 are aimed squarely at that criticism, but no reviewer has confirmed the fix yet.
  • heise found the software rough in places: automatically translated exercise names are sometimes hard to understand, and scrolling while building your own plan can select an exercise by accident.
  • Every outlet raises the same ceiling: 100 kg total is plenty for most people but not for heavy squats and deadlifts. The 2S, 3S and Ultra raise that to 120 kg, which helps but does not turn any of them into a barbell. Serious powerlifters are better served by a rack, and we would tell you the same in the showroom.
  • Tom's Guide flagged that the machine is heavy and does not anchor to a wall, and urged caution around small children.

Will it fit, and how loud is it?

On noise, the honest answer is that nobody has published a decibel measurement for the Gym Monster. The most detailed German long-term test describes it as "fast flüsterleise", almost whisper-quiet, with only a soft hum from the motors. There are no weight stacks to clang, which is the usual complaint from people living below a home gym. The Gym Nano is specified at 60 dB or below.

Two practical warnings we would rather you hear now: delivery arrives as a heavy pallet, so allow for two people getting it inside, and while one person can roll an assembled Gym Monster around a room, one person cannot carry it up a staircase. The Ultra also needs its upper section and screen fitting on delivery.

Should I buy the Gym Monster 2 or the Gym Monster 3?

The 3 is the better machine: a 23.8-inch FHD screen instead of 21.5, an AI chip with voice control and voiceprint profiles, nineteen cable positions instead of half that, soft pedal descent, a reinforced screen mount and the full accessory kit in the box. The 2 is cheaper and it is the generation that thousands of people already own and that every independent reviewer has actually tested. If a proven track record matters more to you than the newest hardware, buy the 2. We sell both and we will not push you.

What is the difference between the 3 and the 3S?

Identical machine and identical features. The 3 has dual 800 W motors and a 100 kg ceiling; the 3S has dual 1000 W motors and a 120 kg ceiling, and weighs 86 kg against 82 kg. The 3S is offered in the Studio and Station configurations.

Is the Gym Monster Ultra worth the jump?

It is worth it if you want vertical pulling. The Ultra is the only machine in the range with a built-in multi-grip pull-up bar, with motor-assisted mode for people building their first pull-up and weighted mode up to 110 kg for people who already have them. It also has thirty-three cable positions including an overhead exit, a 0.88 m2 platform, and foot-operated pedal release so you never bend down. Screen, chip, voice control and the 120 kg ceiling are the same as the 3S. It is a bigger machine: 0.59 m2 folded and 125 kg.

What is the Gym Nano for?

Training where a station will not go. It is 8.2 kg, gives up to 100 kg of direct-drive resistance in 0.45 kg steps, has 5.1 m of cable at up to 6.4 m/s, six resistance modes and live velocity, power and rate-of-force tracking on a built-in display. It mounts fixed, sliding, magnetically or on a rig, and two units pair for bilateral work. It is a companion to a Gym Monster, not a replacement for one.

Do I need a subscription?

No. The machines work fully without one. The Gym Monster 2 includes 500+ movements, 200+ workouts and 100+ programs free, for unlimited users. The Gym Monster 3 and Ultra include over 1,000 movements, 500 workouts and 90 programs. Wellness+ is an optional AI-coach tier, and some AI features arrive with it by over-the-air update.

What does the warranty cover?

24 months on the machine and 12 months on accessories, across the range, with in-home service by certified technicians. Wear items such as resistance cables are consumables on every digital gym, ours included; during warranty Speediance supplies replacement material. Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

Can I try it before buying?

How does delivery work?

Does it track my form?

The Gym Monster 3 and Ultra include AI posture recognition that tracks your movement and coaches your form in real time. On the GM1, GM2 and GM2S the same capability comes from Sidekick, our AI training companion included with Wellness+ and currently in beta: you position your phone so its camera sees you and the machine, and it recognises around 70 movements and mirrors them onto the Gym Monster screen. Neither system's accuracy has been independently tested.

Is a Gym Monster right for a serious powerlifter?

Honestly, not on its own. Total resistance is 100 kg on the Gym Monster 2 and 3, and 120 kg on the 2S, 3S and Ultra, which every independent reviewer agrees is plenty for most training but not for heavy squats and deadlifts. If your programme is built around maximal barbell work, a barbell and rack will serve you better, and we would tell you that in the showroom rather than after delivery.
