Speediance New Zealand is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and disclose it, how we keep it safe, and how you can access, correct or complain about the personal information we hold about you.

We are bound by the Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs). This policy applies to personal information we collect through speediance.nz, our customer service channels, and our showroom and demonstration activities.

Information we collect

  • Identity and contact details — your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing addresses, and anything else you give us when you create an account, place an order, book a demonstration or contact support.
  • Order and payment information — what you bought, your order history and delivery details. Card payments are handled by our payment providers; we do not store full card numbers on our systems.
  • Device and usage information — IP address, device and browser type, operating system, referring pages, and how you move through our site.
  • Communications — records of the emails, calls, chats and messages you exchange with our sales and support teams.

How we use it

  • Processing, fulfilling and delivering your orders, including warranty work and servicing.
  • Managing your account and answering your enquiries.
  • Improving our products, our website and our service.
  • Preventing fraud and keeping our systems secure.
  • Sending you marketing where you have opted in.
  • Meeting our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.

Who we share it with

We share personal information with service providers acting on our behalf: payment processors, freight and delivery carriers, warehousing and installation partners, IT and hosting providers, customer messaging and support platforms, and analytics and advertising providers. We may also disclose personal information where the law requires or allows it, to protect our rights, or in connection with a sale or restructure of our business. We do not sell your personal information.

Storage outside New Zealand

Some of our service providers store or process personal information outside New Zealand, including in Australia, the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States. Before personal information is handled overseas we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected in a way consistent with the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs).

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart and session working, to measure how the site is used, and to deliver and measure advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies will affect how parts of the site work.

Marketing and how to opt out

Where you have opted in, we may contact you by email, SMS or messaging apps with offers and product news. Every marketing message includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can opt out at any time by emailing hello@speediance.nz. Opting out of marketing does not stop service messages about an order you have already placed.

Security and how long we keep it

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy or to meet our legal obligations, including tax and consumer-guarantee record keeping, and then delete or de-identify it. If a privacy breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and affected people as required by the Privacy Act 2020.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date. Email hello@speediance.nz and we will respond within a reasonable period. If we cannot give you what you have asked for, we will tell you why.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at hello@speediance.nz and we will investigate and reply to you. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or on 0800 803 909.

Children

Our website is not directed at children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If we find that we have, we will delete it.

Other websites

Our site may link to websites we do not run. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and we encourage you to read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with the date it was last updated.
